Abstract

Purposes/Objective: This paper aims to critically examine, analyse, and integrate the existing literature on age management, exploring its development and key dimensions from managerial and strategic perspectives. Methodology/Approach: A narrative literature review was conducted using the Scopus database, through which 64 research papers were identified and thoroughly reviewed. Findings: The results reveal that age management has shifted from a social justice focus to becoming a strategic priority for organisations. This review explores age management as a managerial approach that seeks to recognise the value of a multigenerational workforce, enhance employee well-being, and foster sustainable human resource development. Novelty/Originality: The review proposes the integration of age management within broader organisational and human resource strategies. This review complements the management and HRM research by pinpointing the leading properties of age management, the dynamics that facilitate its successful implementation, and its rise as a strategic priority. Implications: This review provides a foundation for future research and delivers guidance for legislators and practitioners aspiring to build more inclusive and flexible workplaces.
