Abstract

This study investigates the level of students' awareness regarding solid waste disposal practices and their perceived health risks at a community college.Using a descriptive-correlational research design, the study analyzes students' knowledge of waste management, awareness of health risks, and their attitudes toward waste reduction.Data were gathered from 200 respondents through a survey, and regression analysis was employed to determine the significant predictors of students' awareness of solid waste disposal practices. The findings indicate that awareness of health risks (p = 0.002) and the perception of the campus waste management system (p = 0.004) are strong predictors of students' waste disposal awareness. While knowledge of solid waste management showed a positive relationship, it was not statistically significant (p = 0.059).The study emphasizes the importance of enhancing students' understanding of the health risks associated with improper waste disposal and improving the campus waste management system to foster greater awareness and engagement. These results underscore the need for targeted educational initiatives to promote sustainable waste management practices in academic settings.
