Abstract

This study analyses the impact of social media use on the emergence of delinquent behaviours among adolescents aged 12 to 15 in the community of Morocoy, Othón P. Blanco. A qualitative research design was adopted, using validated questionnaires administered to a purposively selected non-probabilistic sample that reflected the diversity of local social and educational contexts. The findings indicate a positive association between the amount of time spent on social media platforms and increased exposure to inappropriate content or contacts, together with a low perception of risk in interactions with strangers. Overall, the results highlight the need for context-sensitive preventive interventions aimed at reducing digital and social risks within the adolescent population.
