A diplomacia da diáspora chilena: unha análise crítica da súa evolución, desafíos e potencial estratéxico
Abstract
Diaspora diplomacy has established itself as a fundamental component of foreign policy in a globalized world. This article provides a critical analysis of Chilean diaspora diplomacy, examining its historical evolution, the institutional mechanisms implemented, and the challenges inherent in its execution. Through a review of the existing literature and an evaluation of empirical data, it is argued that, although Chile has made significant efforts to interact with its communities abroad, current policy suffers from a lack of cohesion and a clear strategic approach, which limits its potential. It concludes that in order to transform the diaspora into a genuine geopolitical asset, it is imperative that the Chilean state adopt a more comprehensive vision, investing in the construction of lasting networks and fully recognizing the social and human capital of its migrants.
