Abstract

The global demographic landscape is undergoing an unprecedented transformation.1 As the population of older adults accelerates, the paradigms of gerontology and geriatric healthcare are shifting from reactive, disease-centric models to proactive, holistic, and personalized approaches.2,3 In this context, the concept of “smart aging care” has emerged as a critical frontier.4–7 Smart aging care is not merely the deployment of gadgets; it is the integration of digital innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and data analytics to create responsive ecosystems that support the biological, psychosocial, environmental, and pharmacological realities of older adults.8–10 The current Issue of Geriatrics and Healthcare, Volume 1 Issue 2 (V1I2), presents a compelling collection of six original research articles and reviews that illuminate the multifaceted determinants of healthy aging. Collectively, these studies span molecular mechanisms of aging, psychosocial well-being, caregiver mental health, environmental support, and pharmacological safety, illustrating the increasingly interdisciplinary nature of geriatric research. By sorting these contributions into four distinct yet interconnected themes—biological mechanisms, psychosocial dynamics, environmental concordance, and pharmacological safety—this editorial highlights how contemporary empirical findings can be synergized with digital and technological innovations to forge the future of smart aging care.
