Abstract

Pedagogy in higher education requires variation of resources for effective and efficient implementation, which Art and Design Education (A&DEd) is inclusive. This study aims to unlock the available resources for effective pedagogical process of implementing A&DEd curriculum in Nigerian higher institutions. It explores further types of resources, how to manage them effectively to facilitate good pedagogy in both digital and on-site, or physical pedagogical process. Irrespective of the nature of the resources in any discipline in higher institutions, inadequacies abound. Hence, the study targets to address this gap. It is a qualitative research that based on multiple case study design, and guided by Foa’s Resource Theory (FRT) and van Dijk’s resources and appropriation model (RAT). As an insider, the research uses observation to conceptualise and analyse the information from three government higher institutions offering A&DEd in Lagos State, Nigeria. Likewise, data were source from academic journals, and books in both hard and electronic copies. The findings reveal that adequate A&DEd resources are lacking in some HEIs. Few lecturers used digital resources for A&DEd pedagogy. It plays a vital role in A&DEd pedagogy, achievement of curriculum objectives, and it cannot be overlook. It also reveals that numerous resources for A&DEd pedagogy are very expensive and scarce due to inflation in the country economy. This could facilitate provision of the Art and Design Education pedagogy resources (ADEPRES) at and special funding from the higher institutions Management and Lagos State government. The recommendations suggest adequate provision to sustain curriculum implementation.
