Abstract

This study analysed the contribution of educational robotics to the development of mathematics knowledge in primary education students through a mixed methodological approach. The research combined a quasi-experimental design with qualitative techniques, allowing the assessment of both changes in academic performance and learning experiences associated with the implementation of robotics-based activities. The results revealed a significant improvement in students’ mathematical achievement following the intervention, as well as progress in logical reasoning, conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. In addition, a positive impact on students’ attitudes towards mathematics was identified, reflected in increased interest, participation, and confidence. From a pedagogical perspective, educational robotics fostered active and collaborative teaching methodologies, transforming the teacher’s role and promoting meaningful learning processes. Overall, the findings confirm that educational robotics represents a valuable resource for enhancing mathematics teaching and learning in primary education, provided that its integration is carefully planned and contextually grounded.
