Aplicación de la gamificación con el aprendizaje cooperativo para mejorar las habilidades de lectura
Abstract
Examined the impact of integrating gamification with cooperative learning on reading skill development. Traditional reading instruction often relies on repetitive exercises and individual assessment, limiting engagement and comprehension growth. Conversely, gamified cooperative strategies incorporate structured progression, narrative contexts, symbolic rewards, and collaborative problem-solving, creating dynamic learning environments addressing cognitive, motivational, and social dimensions simultaneously. A mixed-methods design employed quantitative comprehension assessment and qualitative behavioural observations. Results demonstrated significant improvements in literal understanding, inferential reasoning, and implicit information interpretation. Gamified progression and cooperative discussion facilitated scaffolded learning, metacognitive development, and reading strategy internalisation. Motivation and engagement were enhanced through points, badges, narrative framing, and shared group responsibility, increasing persistence, voluntary participation, and reducing anxiety. Collaborative structures promoted equitable participation, peer feedback, and social skill development, contributing to holistic literacy experiences. Immediate feedback loops and incremental challenges reinforced comprehension and supported reflective thinking. The study concludes that traditional reading instruction proves insufficient for contemporary learners, whilst gamification and cooperative learning integration provides measurable gains in reading proficiency, motivation, and socio-emotional competencies. Findings suggest interactive, socially oriented pedagogical strategies should be prioritised to enhance literacy development and engagement in modern classrooms. Results offer educators a replicable framework for improving reading outcomes through innovative, student-centred approaches fostering both cognitive and collaborative growth
