Abstract

The rapid development of digital technologies has significantly transformed the process of teaching foreign languages, including Russian as a foreign language. This article explores the role of modern technologies in improving the effectiveness and quality of Russian language instruction. Today’s learners require interactive, flexible, and learner-centred approaches, and technological tools help meet these needs. Modern technologies such as multimedia resources, online platforms, mobile applications, virtual classrooms, and artificial intelligence–based tools support the development of all language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Video and audio materials expose learners to authentic speech, while interactive exercises and online communication environments increase motivation and engagement. Technology also allows teachers to personalise instruction, monitor progress, and provide immediate feedback. In addition, digital tools promote autonomous learning by enabling students to practice Russian outside the classroom. Platforms for дистанционное обучение create opportunities for collaboration, discussion, and real-life communication in the target language. The integration of technology shifts the role of the teacher from a traditional instructor to a facilitator who guides and supports learners. The article emphasises that the effective use of modern technologies not only enhances linguistic competence but also develops students’ critical thinking and communicative confidence. As a result, technology-based instruction becomes an essential component in teaching Russian as a foreign language in the contemporary educational environment.
