AVICENNA AND MODERN STRATEGIES FOR EXTENDING ACTIVE LONGEVITY
Abstract
The article examines the problem of longevity in the works of the eminent Eastern scholar and physician Abu Ali Ibn Sina (Avicenna) and its interpretation in modern medicine. Special attention is paid to Avicenna’s views on a healthy lifestyle, balanced nutrition, moderation, physical activity, and psycho-emotional balance as key factors contributing to a long life. A comparative analysis of Avicenna’s classical concepts and contemporary scientific data in the fields of gerontology, preventive medicine, and public health is conducted. The study demonstrates that many of Avicenna’s ideas on health preservation and longevity remain relevant today and are supported by modern scientific research.
