A Study on the Usage of the Geothermal Model and the Deployment of Edge computing in a Greenhouse for a Sustainable Environment
Abstract
Rapid urbanization and population growth have increased the demand for agricultural products, leading to greater reliance on greenhouses to boost production, extend growing seasons, and protect crops from adverse weather. While greenhouses enhance yield and quality through controlled environments, they also contribute to climate change due to high energy consumption and fossil fuel use. To address this, we propose a novel conceptual research model that integrates a geothermal model and edge computing with microservice orchestration. The geothermal model will decrease fossil fuel combustion, and edge computing technology will improve response times and dependency on the Internet for auto-controlled services. Further, these will indirectly reduce power consumption, fossil fuel consumption, and the emission of greenhouse gases.
