Abstract

We present HKIMed (Hierarchical Knowledge-Based System for Indigenous Medicines), a client-server architecture designed to facilitate access to indigenous medicinal knowledge from North East India. Developed using Object-Oriented Programming within the Model-View-Controller (MVC) framework, HKIMed integrates a hierarchical query system and load-balanced, cluster-based web servers to support scalable and efficient knowledge retrieval. By enabling users to query original medicinal practices for specific diseases, the system supports informed health decisions and contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being. HKIMed offers a novel approach to organizing and applying indigenous medical knowledge for societal benefit.
