Abstract

Waste disposal or garbage disposal is a major problem in urban areas. People do not have sufficient space in their house to dispose the waste properly. So, they have to dispose the garbage outside of their house. In urban areas due to the increasing population proper system of dustbin is ineffective. Most of the times, all the dustbins overflow and people throw their garbage around the dustbin creating a very polluted environment. This paper proposes the concept smart dustbin to enhance the process of garbage disposal system. The dustbin is with sensors that detect the person movement towards the dustbin and it will also detect the quantities of garbage. Once a bin reaches its capacity, the system triggers a notification to the waste management team or an individual user for timely collection. The deployment of the Smart Dustbin system not only optimises waste management operations but also decreases the need for manual inspections, decreases operational expenses, and guarantees cleaner public areas. Smart Dustbins, being scalable and adjustable, can make a substantial contribution to the development of sustainable and intelligent urban environments. The proposed solution is scalable, adaptable, and aligns with the goals of sustainable urban development and smart city initiatives.
