Time, Budget, and Resource Management in Interior Architecture Projects
Abstract
This study examines the critical dimensions of time, budget, and resource management in interior architecture projects, emphasizing their impact on project efficiency, quality, and client satisfaction. Interior architecture often faces unique challenges due to its creative complexity, fluctuating client demands, and dependency on multidisciplinary collaboration. Using a qualitative research methodology, the study draws on interviews and case analyses of practicing designers, project managers, and contractors to explore how organizational, technological, and human factors interact within the “triple constraint” of project management. Findings reveal that inadequate coordination, poor resource forecasting, and evolving design specifications are primary causes of project delays and budget overruns. The study integrates insights from systems and contingency theories to propose a conceptual framework that aligns creative design processes with structured management practices. It argues that project success in interior architecture depends on balancing aesthetic innovation with managerial discipline through effective planning tools, communication strategies, and digital integration, such as BIM. Policy recommendations include strengthening professional training, mandating formal project management protocols, and incentivizing sustainable resource use. The research contributes to a deeper understanding of how strategic management can enhance both creative and operational outcomes in interior architecture practice.
