Abstract

The chapter examines the theoretical concepts and the evolution of the armed struggle for Ukrainian statehood during the interwar period (1920)(1921)(1922)(1923)(1924)(1925)(1926)(1927)(1928)(1929)(1930)(1931)(1932)(1933)(1934)(1935)(1936)(1937)(1938)(1939).Particular attention is paid to the scientific-theoretical, analytical, and memoirbased works of Ukrainian military researchers and political thinkers who sought to interpret the experience of the national liberation movement after the defeat of the Ukrainian Revolution. The study highlights key ideas concerning the inevitability of a future armed conflict, the role of the Ukrainian people in such a confrontation, and the strategic prerequisites for restoring independence. The article analyzes how interwar military thought developed under conditions of exile, foreign occupation, and political repression, influencing the formation of new approaches to guerrilla warfare, military organization, and national resistance.Considerable emphasis is placed on the continuity of military traditions and the adaptation of European geopolitical and strategic doctrines to Ukrainian realities. The research also outlines the intellectual foundations that shaped the programs of nationalist and military-political organizations in the 1920s and 1930s.By exploring the theoretical reflections of the period, the article contributes to a deeper understanding of the ideological and strategic dimensions of the armed struggle for Ukrainian statehood and demonstrates the significance of interwar military discourse in preserving the concept of national independence as a long-term objective.
