Abstract

As one of the most significant and notable technological advancements of our time, artificial intelligence technology is inevitably affecting and transforming the fashion design sector, just as it is with every other sector of production. The purpose of this study is to perform a bibliometric analysis and systematic review of academic publications on the relationship between artificial intelligence and fashion design. In the first phase of the study, which uses a descriptive research method, 97 works found in the Scopus (Elsevier) database by searching with the keywords "artificial intelligence" OR "text to image" AND "fashion design" were evaluated using a bibliometric analysis method. In the second phase of the study, the five most-cited and most recent publications among these were examined for content using a systematic review approach. The examined studies showed that AI technologies utilizing generative adversarial networks were most commonly used, and that artificial intelligence was primarily employed in garment design or the design decision-making stages. The findings determined that there are originality issues in fashion design carried out with the help of artificial intelligence technologies, and that future efforts should focus on solving these problems.
