Abstract

What is the new finding?• This manuscript provides a comprehensive review of the similarities and key differences between CTEPH and in situ thrombosis. We provide an in-depth comparison of the pathophysiology, clinical features, echocardiogram, and imaging findings between these two diagnoses. What is the clinical impact?• The differentiation between CTEPH and in situ thrombosis can be difficult as the differences may oftentimes be subtle. However, accurately distinguishing between these two entities in clinical practice is critical as the management is vastly different. This review provides a detailed overview of the key distinguishing features between CTEPH and in situ thrombosis to help guide clinicians in the management of their patients.
