Abstract

This editorial note presents the first issue of the Institutions and Development Research Journal (IDeRJ), underlining the significant position of institutional framework in enhancing sustainable development. The issue brings together articles investigating relationships among governance, economic inputs, environmental sustainability, and social welfare. The contributions explore themes including remittances, foreign direct investment (FDI), institutional performance, university accreditation, stock market dynamics, clean energy transition, carbon emissions, food security, and regional competitiveness. Together, the articles emphasise that development outcomes depend not only on resource availability but on the strength, transparency, and resilience of institutional frameworks that shape long-term societal transformation.
