Abstract

Colon adenocarcinoma is the most frequently encountered malignant tumour of the colorectal region, and its epidemiological trends at the international and national levels are shaped by complex mechanisms. Adenocarcinoma develops as the surface epithelial cells pass from hyperplastic polyps to malignant transformation. It has been recorded that cases of colorectal cancer are increasing worldwide from year to year, which is closely connected with dietary habits, environmental factors and lifestyle. In the conditions of Uzbekistan, too, the incidence of colorectal cancer is considerable, amounting to 5.3 and 4.3 per 100,000 population in men and women respectively. Endoscopic and morphological diagnostic methods (for example, colonoscopy and histopathological analysis) are of great importance in the early detection of this pathology. On the basis of the relevant statistical and theoretical data, this article sets out in a scientific manner the epidemiological trends, the importance of screening and the directions of diagnosis.
