Developing health-promoting competence in students through physical education in a blended learning environment
Abstract
The article discusses how physical education contributes to the development of health-saving competence of students under the conditions of the modern educational setting that is marked by the active introduction of digital technologies and blended learning models. The topicality of the research is explained by the fact that the risks of decreased exercise among the young population are increasing, so are the tendencies towards adopting the sedentary lifestyle, and the necessity to develop effective pedagogical strategies that would help to support and reinforce the health of students. Educational institutions are an important part of the contemporary learning institution, which teaches not only the academic content but also the responsible approach to health care, physical activity, and well-being. This paper examines the existing scientific methods of gaining an insight on the nature and composition of health-enhancing competence and establishes the significance of physical education as a significant pedagogical instrument towards the cultivation of healthy lifestyle culture in students. Special emphasis is put on the opportunities of blended learning in the physical education process, which involves physical training activities that are combined with digital learning tools, online learning environments, interactive learning materials, and physical activity monitoring tools. The research methodology is the analysis of international statistical data and analytical reports defining the level of physical activity, educational conditions, and social factors having an impact on the health-related behavior of students. The research organizes the structural elements of health-preserving competence such as cognitive, motivational-value, activity-based, and reflective elements. The result shows that the quality of blended elements of learning transferred to the field of physical education helps to enhance the rates of engagement among the students, promote the growth of motivation towards exercising consistently, and promote the development of responsible attitudes to personal health. The research also proves the significance of applying digital educational resources to facilitate individual physical activity, improve the level of self-monitoring, and individualize the educational process. Various practical suggestions are suggested to enhance the efficiency of shaping the healthy saving competence of students via the combination of physical education and digital technologies, the development of extracurricular physical and fitness programs, and the establishment of the health-focused educational environment. Physical education teachers, educators and educational administrators can use the findings of the study to enhance the arrangement of physical education in the setting of blended learning.
