Project Nisshash: A Modular Dual-Flow Air Purification System for Healthier Indoor Living In Bangladesh
Abstract
Indoor air pollution is a growing public health crisis, particularly in densely populated countries such as Bangladesh, where PM2.5 concentrations indoors often exceed 75– 200 μg/m3, far above the WHO recommended safe limit of 5 μg/m3. Chronic exposure contributes to over 102,000 premature deaths annually, including 5,000 children under five. Existing air purifiers are often expensive, limited in functionality, or only recirculate air without removing pollutants. Project Nisshash introduces a modular, dual-flow air purification system that actively exhausts polluted indoor air while supplying purified air. The system combines HEPA filtration, activated carbon layers, and a dual-fan airflow mechanism. Multiple product categories—including tabletop, room, and kitchen models— allow scalable deployment. This research evaluates Project Nisshash’s feasibility, health impact, sustainability, and alignment with SDGs, demonstrating its potential to improve indoor air quality, reduce health risks, and create sustainabl
