Composición química y fibrosa de residuos agrícolas (plátano, frejol gandul, maracuyá, lodo de palma) y su potencial como alimento alternativo para el ganado
Abstract
The study aimed to evaluate the chemical composition of agro-industrial residues—pigeon pea husk, palm sludge, passion fruit peel, and banana peel—to determine their potential as raw materials in animal feeding. A completely randomized design with five replicates was applied, analyzing dry matter (DM), inorganic matter (IM), crude protein (CP), crude fat (CF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), and acid detergent fiber (ADF). The results showed significant differences (P < 0.05) among treatments, reflecting the nutritional variability of the by-products. Pigeon pea husk presented the highest DM content (77.03%), while palm sludge stood out for its higher IM content (13.93%). Regarding CP, the highest values were observed in pigeon pea husk (13.96%) and palm sludge (13.91%). The lowest CF was recorded in pigeon pea husk (2.57%). In terms of fiber fractions, banana peel and palm sludge showed the lowest NDF values, while passion fruit peel and banana peel presented the lowest ADF contents. In conclusion, these residues represent viable nutritional alternatives, and further studies on digestibility and productive performance are recommended to optimize their sustainable use.
