Abstract

CGMs track blood sugar continuously so you can see patterns, rising or falling trends, and respond early to highs or lows without frequent finger pricks. CGMs have two main types: real-time (alerts you instantly and can connect to pumps) and intermittently scanned (shows readings only when scanned). Anyone with diabetes can benefit, especially people with Type 1 or Type 2 on intensive insulin, pregnant women, and those with low blood sugar unawareness. Proper sensor use is key: apply to clean, flat skin, follow manufacturer instructions, and check readings regularly to ensure accuracy. Goal ranges and reports guide care by helping you keep glucose mostly in the target range (70–180 mg/dL), track highs and lows, and use your AGP report with your doctor to make safe, effective adjustments.
