Abstract

Blepharitis is a common eye condition characterized by swollen, irritated, itchy, and red eyelids, which may also lead to the formation of white, crusty flakes resembling dandruff on the eyelashes. If left untreated, it can result in complications such as issues with eyelashes, excessive tearing, styes, chalazia, and potential injury to the cornea. Blepharitis can present as either acute (ulcerative or nonulcerative) or chronic (often due to meibomian gland dysfunction, seborrheicblepharitis, or Demodex infestation). Effective management of blepharitis typically requires long-term treatment; therefore, innovative formulations and products containing natural ingredients may be deemed more effective in addressing these concerns. This review article explores the management of blepharitis through synthetic, homeopathic, and Ayurvedic methods.
