Abstract

SELFIE is a free online tool that assesses the use of digital technologies by teachers and students in primary, secondary and vocational education schools. Its aim is to capture the “digital literacy” of schools and provide feedback for improvement. The present research, which was conducted in a multi-place kindergarten in an urban area, was based on six teacher interviews. The results showed that the tool is considered useful and easy to use, with its effectiveness depending on the digital culture and self-confidence of teachers. The need to adapt the questions to the subjects and the context of each country was highlighted. In conclusion, SELFIE can contribute to improving the digital competence of teachers and school effectiveness, encouraging new strategies and the implementation of action plans for the technological upgrade of schools.
