Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital technology has intensified ethical challenges among Generation Z, revealing a critical gap between digital literacy and moral responsibility. This study aims to reconceptualize holistic Islamic education by proposing an integrative model that links normative ethical internalization (through PAI) with direct scriptural access (through Arabic instruction) as a mechanism for digital ethics formation. Using a qualitative library research approach with content analysis, this study synthesizes relevant literature on Islamic education, digital ethics, and language pedagogy. The findings demonstrate that holistic Islamic education can be theoretically reconstructed into a four-dimensional framework—spiritual, moral, intellectual, and social—operationalized through the synergy of PAI and Arabic instruction. PAI functions as a normative internalization mechanism foundation that instills values such as amānah and tabayyun, while Arabic instruction provides epistemic access mechanism mechanism to Qur’anic and Hadith-based ethical concepts, enabling deeper internalization and contextual application in digital environments. This integrative model positions Arabic not merely as a linguistic tool but as a gateway to ethical cognition, thereby transforming digital literacy into value-based digital ethics. The study contributes to the development of Islamic education theory by offering a conceptual framework for digital ethics formation rooted in scriptural understanding, with implications for curriculum integration and pedagogical design in the digital era.
