Abstract

Introduction: This research analyzes family farming as a pillar of food security and sustainable rural development in the parish. The study is based on cooperation, equity, and community self-management as transformative axes. Materials and methods: A mixed approach with a non-experimental, correlational, and cross-sectional design was applied through surveys and interviews with 15 farmers. The instruments allowed us to characterize socioeconomic conditions and examine local solidarity practices in depth. Results: The results reveal that 60% of producers are between 50 and 59 years old, evidencing a marked aging of the population. Although 47% apply cooperation and fair prices, only 11% have access to formal credit. Discussion: The data suggest that solidarity economy models operate under a degree of informality that limits their structural impact. Conclusions: Rural well-being requires inclusive public policies and ongoing cooperative education. These strategies must promote inclusive local development to ensure the sustainability of the agricultural sector.
