Nivel de conocimiento sobre la metodología de investigación cuantitativa con estudiantes universitarios
Abstract
Introduction. The objective of this study was to determine the level of scientific knowledge possessed by students from III to V year of the Physics-Mathematics course at UNAN-Managua/CUR-Esteli. Materials and Methods. The research was framed in a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental, descriptive and cross-sectional design. Hypotheses were formulated centered on the existence of differences in knowledge according to the academic year, and the following were identified as main variables: the level of scientific knowledge (dependent) and the year of study (independence). To collect the information, structured questionnaires were applied, validated by Cronbach's Alpha and processed with SPSS. Results and Discussion. The results obtained showed an insufficient level of knowledge about key concepts such as variables, hypotheses, research designs and use of statistical software. Most of the students evidenced difficulties to methodologically applying what they had learned, thus limiting their effective participation in research processes. In response, a didactic proposal was designed focused on active strategies such as Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) and Project Based Learning (PBL). Conclusions. The lack of affection and pedagogical accompaniment is a determinant in demotivation and absenteeism. Implementing family co-responsibility strategies is required to reverse school failure.
