Abstract

Introduction. This study analyzes the influence of the family environment on the low academic performance of Fifth Grade students at the 23 de Abril Educational Unit. Materials and Methods. A quantitative, non-experimental, correlational, and descriptive study. A Likert survey was applied to a purposive sample of 10 students. Results and Discussion. 90% of parents rarely supervise tasks, and 100% of students perceive a dysfunctional affective climate. This correlates with the lack of concentration (90%), evidencing a critical home-school disconnection. Conclusions. The lack of affection and pedagogical accompaniment is a determinant in demotivation and absenteeism. Implementing family co-responsibility strategies is required to reverse school failure.
