Abstract

Introduction: Contact dermatitis is an inflammation that occurs when the skin comes into contact with substances that can irritate it or cause allergies. In addition to physical symptoms such as redness, itching, and scaling, this condition can impact people’s quality of life, affecting their daily activities, work performance, and even emotional well-being. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the impact of contact dermatitis on patients’ quality of life by analyzing the main triggering factors, psychosocial consequences, and disease management strategies. Method: This study is an integrative literature review in which original and review articles were included to select relevant information for the results of this research. Results: The data show that contact dermatitis has a significant effect on patients’ daily lives, causing physical discomfort and limitations both at work and in emotional life, such as stress and anxiety. Professionals who deal with irritating agents, such as those in the healthcare and chemical industries, are more likely to develop this condition. To relieve symptoms and improve quality of life, it is important to use protective barriers, specific moisturizers, and identify allergens that may be causing the reaction. Conclusion: Therefore, contact dermatitis should not be seen merely as a skin problem but as an issue that affects people’s overall well-being. Prevention strategies, appropriate treatment, and psychological support are essential to minimizing the negative impacts of the disease, improving quality of life, and reducing symptom recurrence.
