Abstract

Wound treatment accounts for a significant portion of healthcare spending, affecting millions of people annually with conditions such as pressure ulcers, venous ulcers, and diabetic foot. With advances in technology, a variety of specialized dressings have been developed, promising better healing results. However, the incorporation of these new technologies must be carefully evaluated, considering not only their effectiveness but also their economic impact. The present study aimed to analyze manuscripts published between 2015 and 2025, covering an integrative review of the cost-effectiveness of wound treatment with different dressings. The methodology applied was the Integrative Review technique on urinary tract infection in the elderly, using the BVS and PubMed databases for a better approach to the subject. The results presented studies by 15 authors on the cost-effectiveness of wound treatment with different dressings. In view of the above, it can be concluded that choosing the ideal dressing goes far beyond the simple unit price of the product, being a complex process that must balance clinical efficacy, direct and indirect costs, and the impact on the patient’s quality of life.
