PANORAMA DA GESTÃO HOSPITALAR DURANTE A COVID-19 E SUA EVOLUÇÃO NOS SETORES PÚBLICO E PRIVADO
Abstract
The advent of the global health crisis known as COVID-19 placed unprecedented operational pressure on healthcare systems, demanding rapid responses and profound structural adaptations. This article investigates the nuances of hospital administration during the pandemic period, drawing a comparison between the realities faced by public and private institutions. The analysis focuses on the contingency strategies adopted to mitigate resource shortages, staff overload, and logistical uncertainties. A literature review was used as the method to compile and interpret the available evidence from recent studies on the topic. The working hypothesis suggests that, although both sectors faced the same biological enemy, their response capacities were shaped by different levels of administrative autonomy and budgetary flexibility. The results indicate that agile leadership and technological incorporation were crucial for maintaining basic care services, regardless of the institution’s legal nature (public or private). The legacy of this period, therefore, lies in the need to strengthen integration between systems and modernize management processes to confront future emergencies.
