Abstract

Shenzhen, located in southern China, has emerged as a symbol of informational capitalism, where the interconnected flows of capital, information, and talent drive its rapid growth. This model is based on an economy focused on innovation, advanced manufacturing, and integration into global networks, radically transforming its labor and social landscape. The city has undergone a shift from a traditional industrial hub to a technological development center with strong foreign investment attraction. However, this process has also generated tensions related to socioeconomic inequalities, pressure on natural resources, and increasing dependence on global value chains. The case of Shenzhen offers valuable insights into how informational capitalism redefines production relations while posing significant challenges for urban and social sustainability.
