Abstract

Medicinal plants are used in large proportions by populations in all income brackets, making the photochemical study deserves attention in the context of the incessant search for new drugs. Plants produce a wide variety of substances, including secondary metabolites. In this context, the objective of this work was to carry out the study of the Crude Ethanol Extract (BSE) of C. procera against its cytotoxic activity in several tumor cell lines, as well as to analyze the fraction of total alkaloids (FAT) by evaluating the fraction of interest in spectroscopy of I. hederifolia. Important results were observed in the analysis of the cytotoxicity of C. procera against cancer cells that showed cytotoxic activity for myeloid leukemias K562 and HL-60 with significant IC50, while I. hederifolia showed promising fractions obtained through CC of FAT, and a of them was sent for spectroscopic analysis of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) for the structural determination of the compounds, that in the spectra of hydrogen and carbon showed as a mixture of coumarins where the major compound was a Trimethoxycoumarin. In this way, this study points out the importance of their continuity for a more in-depth knowledge about the species, as well as the intention to make a new collection of I. hederifolia to try to separate these coumarins.
