Abstract

The article “Evolution of Criminal Profiling: Trends and Emerging Technologies” analyzes the significant changes in criminal profiling methods due to technological advancement. With the incorporation of tools such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data and advanced behavioral analysis, modern criminology has been able to improve the accuracy and effectiveness in profiling. AI allows the analysis of large volumes of data quickly, identifying patterns and anomalies invisible to the human eye. Big data expands this capacity by correlating information from different sources, revealing complex behavioral trends. Advanced behavioral analytics complements these technologies by offering a detailed psychological and sociological perspective on criminals. However, these innovations bring ethical and operational challenges, such as protecting privacy and the risk of bias in algorithms. Adequate training of professionals is essential for the correct interpretation and application of these tools. The article emphasizes the need to balance technological innovation and ethical considerations, ensuring that the benefits outweigh the risks. With a responsible approach, these technologies have the potential to transform criminology and police investigation, providing a more effective and fair justice system.
