Abstract

In this paper, a compartmental model for the smoking habit and its related diseases was developed. The smoking Free Equilibrium (SFE), Endemic equilibrium (SEE) and the basic reproduction number of the model were obtained. The Jacobian matrix stability technique was used to analysed the local stability of the smoking free equilibrium and Routh-hurwitz criteria was used to analysed smoking endemic equilibrium. Global analysis of the smoking Free Equilibrium (SFE) was also carried. Our analysis shows that the smoking free equilibrium will be stable if () or unstable if () and the endemic equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable, if the Routh-Hurwitz condition of (32) to (33) hold otherwise is unstable. The global analysis shows that the smoking free equilibrium is stable.
