EXPLORING THE SOCIOCULTURAL ELEMENTS OF TEACHING FORMAL ENGLISH COMMUNICATION VIA INTERACTIVE METHODS
Abstract
Teaching formal English communication in today's globalized world involves more than simply grammar and vocabulary. It is intricately linked to sociocultural factors that influence how students interact and comprehend language. My study explores these facets, emphasizing how interactive techniques might improve communication abilities in formal contexts and transcend cultural divides. Using a mixed-methods approach that included student surveys and classroom observations in an EFL setting, I investigated how sociocultural effects including identity development, power dynamics, and cultural norms are revealed and addressed through role-playing and group discussions. The results show that interactive approaches promote empathy and cultural understanding in addition to improving language skills, which results in more successful formal communication. This study has useful implications for curriculum design and teacher preparation, highlighting the necessity for educators to incorporate sociocultural viewpoints into language instruction. In the end, it advances the field of applied linguistics by proving that learners' active engagement with their cultural environments fosters formal English communication.
