The impact of the “Assegno Unico e Universale” reform on family welfare
Abstract
The recent reform of Italy’s family support system, which introduced the “Assegno Unico e Universale” in March 2022, marks a turning point in the country’s family policy. The reform aimed to provide a more inclusive and equitable approach to supporting families. This study draws on longitudinal data from IT-SILC to analyse changes in the pool of beneficiaries in the years surrounding the reform. It also offers an overview of the reform effects using both descriptive statistics and model-based empirical analysis.
