Abstract

The present research aimed to determine the effectiveness of applying the 26 Standard American Rudiments technique in improving the instrumental performance of percussion students at a music conservatory in Peru. The research adopted an applied approach with a pre-experimental pretest–posttest design and involved an intentional sample of eight students. Data were collected using an observation guide structured around the dimensions of posture, music reading, execution technique, and even stick control. The results revealed statistically significant improvements across all evaluated dimensions, confirmed through the Student’s t-test (p < 0.05), which led to the rejection of the null hypothesis. It is concluded that the systematic application of the 26 Standard American Rudiments constitutes an effective technical and pedagogical strategy for strengthening instrumental performance in percussion students.
