Abstract

This article explores the intersection between ecology and Enrique Dussel's philosophy of liberation, aiming to understand how Dussel's proposed communitarian ethics can contribute to an ecological approach that promotes social and environmental justice. The critical analysis covers Dussel's life, his main concepts, and the relevance of his communitarian ethics to ecology. The study also addresses definitions of ecology, reflections on sustainability and environmental justice, and the importance of (re)existing in harmony with the Earth. Furthermore, it examines the theoretical intersections between ethics and ecology, including dialogues with previous works, convergences and divergences between Dussel and contemporary ecological practices, and new perspectives for an ethical ecology. The article emphasizes the need to promote harmonious relationships with the environment, using the ethics of liberation as a guide for a sustainable ecological future.
