Abstract

This volume emerges from the ESA RN10 Mid-term Conference "Young Researcher Academy for Methodological Advancements in Sociological Research and Education -Resilience and Well-being in Academic Endeavours."The conference brought together early-career scholars from a wide range of disciplines to engage in dialogue on the evolving landscape of sociological inquiry and educational research.Organized in collaboration with the Doctoral Students' Union of the Maria Grzegorzewska University, the event served as a platform where young academics could connect across institutional, disciplinary, and national borders.More than an academic meeting, the conference functioned as a collaborative space where emerging researchers shared ideas, confronted challenges, and built supportive networks.Participants explored methodological innovations, reflected on the pressures and uncertainties shaping contemporary academic life, and discussed strategies to strengthen resilience and well-being within research environments. The contributions in this volume reflect the wide thematic diversity and methodological plurality of the discussions.Together, they reveal how young scholars navigate, critique, and reshape the academic world while advancing our understanding of the sociology of education. SECTION I: Teacher Well-Being and Professional ContextsThe opening chapter, "Why context matters in teachers' emotions.A mixed method study" by Michalis Christodoulou, Konstantina Feggou and Maria Pekopoulou, highlights teachers' emotional experiences , such as frustration, anger, and well-being, and how these are shaped by relational and institutional contexts.Using an exploratory sequential mixed-methods design, the authors illuminate the contextual mechanisms through which teachers' emotions develop in primary school environments. The section continues with "Promoting Teacher Wellbeing in Initial Education Programs: Perspectives from Albanian Universities," in which Ledia Kashahu, Jetmira Basha and Fjoralba Satka examine the views of university Foreword ations of scholars can exchange ideas openly and collectively imagine more inclusive, reflexive, and resilient academic environments. We hope that the insights gathered here will resonate with researchers, educators, and policymakers, offering not only analytical depth but also practical pathways for fostering equity, care, and critical engagement.May this volume serve both as a record of a meaningful academic encounter and as an invitation to continue the dialogue on methodological innovation, well-being, and the future of sociological research in education.Above all, we hope it encourages the building of scholarly communities rooted in curiosity, solidarity, and the shared commitment to transforming education for the better.
