Scaling Pandemic Preparedness and Response Cost Estimates for Disease Transmission Modes
Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for policies to address financial support for the prevention of and response to pandemics. In this paper, the authors aim to understand what the world needs to spend annually to prepare for and respond to emerging diseases resulting from different modes of transmission (respiratory, insect-vectored, and fluid-borne) with an analysis of how such costs vary based on transmission mode.
