Abstract

In this panel, academic librarians from a variety of institutions will discuss on-going interdepartmental collaborations focused on supporting faculty in teaching, research, and scholarship. Panelist Rebecca Oling, Interim Director of Digital Accessibility at Purchase College, will discuss the library’s collaboration with the Office of Disability Resources, Teaching Learning Technology Center, and Liberal Studies and Continuing Education in helping faculty to address accessibility issues related to the design, selection, and delivery of course content. Panelist Danielle Apfelbaum, Scholarly Communications Librarian at Farmingdale State College, will discuss her collaboration with the office of Distance Learning in working to increase awareness of and compliance with copyright in web-enhanced, hybrid, and online courses. Derek Stadler, Web Services Librarian at LaGuardia Community College, will discuss his collaboration with the campus-wide College University Senate in organizing and hosting a bi-annual Faculty Research Colloquium that provides an outlet for faculty to showcase their research. Panelists will provide insight into the successes, failures, and on-going challenges unique to each of these collaborations. Each panelist will also recommend a set of actionable next-steps that attendees can take to get involved with or initiate similar projects at their institutions.
