Abstract

Fungal allergen sensitization is a clinically important gateway event in difficult-to-treat asthma, and Aspergillus fumigatus is among the most consequential aeroallergens associated with exacerbation risk and morbidity [1] .Sensitization programs T helper (Th) cell lineages, mobilizes innate effectors, and establishes downstream airway pathology.Traditionally, this is described as type 2 inflammation (driven by type 2 cytokines including interleukin-4 [IL-4], IL-5, and IL-13), with accumulating evidence that Th9/IL-9 contributes to mucus production, mast cell O r i g i n a l U n e d i t e d M a n u s c r i p t 7
