Abstract

High-energy traumatic injuries to the wrist have been reported in the literature, which may result in isolated perilunate dislocations or distal radius fractures (DRFs). Dorsal perilunate dislocations are reported to be more common compared to volar dislocations. The concurrent presentation of a dorsal perilunate dislocation with a DRF has been rarely reported. Objective post-operative outcomes of this injury pattern, such as active motion, sensation, and function, are important with follow-up because of the complexity of this condition. The purpose of this report is to present the clinical presentation, the radiographic evaluation, and the approach used in the diagnosis and treatment of this uncommon, combined injury.
