A resiliência da telenovela brasileira na era da diversificação da dramaturgia seriada
Abstract
his study examines the transformations of contemporary television drama in Brazil, focusing on the progressive cultural decentralization of the telenovela and the diversification of foreign serialized fiction driven by streaming. Through an analysis of the Brazilian audiovisual landscape, it investigates how the proliferation of video streaming services, audience fragmentation, and the transnationalization of production have reshaped production standards and the cultural prestige of the telenovela. The study also discusses the strategies adopted by Brazilian media conglomerates in response to this market reconfiguration. By outlining continuities and ruptures, it argues that, despite uncertainties about its future, the Brazilian telenovela exemplifies how narrative traditions from the Global South resist and reinvent themselves amid the transformations brought about by streaming.
