Abstract

The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) is a comprehensive survey that collects data on the health and nutritional status on adults and children from representative samplings of the U.S. population. Data collected from questions about demographic, socioeconomic, dietary, and health-related factors are used to determine the prevalence of major diseases and risk factors for diseases. The data are available online from the NHANES Interactive Data Visualization tool and have been a valuable resource for researchers and policymakers in understanding the health and nutritional status of the U.S. population and have contributed to the development of guidelines and policies.
