Abstract

We subtly introduce economic inequality in an experiment comparing groups composed of Black and White Americans, varying whether the inequality occurs by chance or is the result of human agency. Subjects are given the ability to correct that inequality by taking actions that could be costly or not. We explore subjects' reactions to exposure to inequality, comparing reactions among Black and White subjects. This replication folder provides data and code to reproduce the results in the paper.
