A Comparative Study On Lifestyle Related Stress Parameters In Yoga Meditation Practitioners And Sedentary Young Adults
Abstract
Stress is a major public health concern among young adults and has a significant impact on both mental and physiological health. Increased academic, occupational and social demands during this stage of life contribute to elevated stress levels, which may result in anxiety, depression and physiological dysregulation. Lifestyle practices such as yoga and meditation have been associated with improved stress management and overall well-being . However, comparative evidence examining mental and physiological stress parameters between yoga meditation practitioners and sedentary young adults remains limited. The present study aims to compare lifestyle-related mental and physiological stress parameters among yoga meditation practitioners and sedentary young adults. Physiological stress parameters will be measured using standard procedures. Yoga meditation practitioners are expected to exhibit lower levels of perceived stress, anxiety and depression along with more favorable physiological stress indicators compared to sedentary young adults. The findings of this study are expected to highlight the role of yoga and meditation as beneficial lifestyle practices for stress regulation and the promotion of mental and physiological well-being in young adults.
