Abstract

The present study aims to assess the impact of fast-food consumption on the lifestyle and health of students. Due to busy academic schedules and the easy availability of fast food, students increasingly prefer such foods, often leading to unhealthy dietary habits. This study examines the effects of frequent fast-food intake on students’ physical health, including obesity, fatigue, and digestive problems, as well as lifestyle-related factors such as reduced physical activity, irregular daily routines, sleep patterns, academic performance, and stress levels. Data for the study were collected using a structured questionnaire administered through Google Forms. The survey included both school and college students, allowing for the collection of responses from a diverse student population in a time-efficient manner. The findings indicate that excessive consumption of fast food negatively affects students’ overall physical health and lifestyle and may also influence mental well-being and academic performance. Although several studies have explored the effects of fast food on the physical health of college students, limited research has focused on high school students and on lifestyle dimensions such as sleep behavior, stress, and daily routines. Furthermore, factors such as easy accessibility of fast food and psychological aspects like stress-related or emotional eating are often overlooked. Therefore, the present study highlights an important research gap and emphasizes the need for awareness regarding balanced nutrition and healthy living. Educational institutions should promote healthy eating habits, provide nutritious food options, and educate students about the long-term health risks associated with frequent fast-food consumption.
